PADMAPURAM BOTANICAL GARDEN

 

Nested within the serene surroundings of the Eastern Ghats, Padmapuram Botanical Garden is located in the Araku Valley, only 12 kilometers away from Visakhapatnam. Not only is it a repository of enriched plants and flowers including hefty trees like eucalyptus and pine. It also features a toy train for children to enjoy the garden as they learn. Beautiful fragrances lead you to rose gardens. The garden’s also famous for hanging cottages supported by huge trees, ten feet above ground level.

 

INDIRA GANDHI ZOOLOGICAL PARK

 

One of Vizag’s most important tourist attractions, the Zoological Park is home to exotic and endangered varieties of bird and animal species. The hippopotamus, giraffe, sloth bear and olive baboon are some of the exotic species housed here. Among birds, ostrich, macaw, painted stork make up major attractions.

 

PULICAT LAKE BIRD SANCTUARY

 

Located along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, this bird sanctuary attracts migratory birds from around the world. It is also a nesting ground for many aquatic birds. Pullicat’s dry evergreen forests are a perfect home for flamingos, pelicans, a variety of storks, ibises, cormorants, egrets, ducks, pintails, terns, grey herons and sandpipers.

 

SRI VENKATESWARA ZOOLOGICAL PARK

 

An oasis of lush green valley, this zoological park is surrounded by the Tirumala Hills. Housing more than 1500 species of flora, some of the rarest animals including slender loris and golden gecko and mesmerizing waterfalls, this zoological park is never a dull sight.
